Description: Drama is the capital of the prefecture and is located in eastern Macedonia and borders with Bulgaria. It is a city with a long history which suffered greatly during the 20th century when it was converted into a field of warfare and claims. The city is surrounded by a series of mountain ranges including the Menoikio, Pangeo the Orvilos the Basin and of course the Rhodope mountains. The mountain that dominates the skyline and is the hallmark of the wider area is Falakro (meaning “Baldy”). Drama administratively belongs to the Region of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace and easily accessed via the “Egnatia” motorway, via railroad from Thessaloniki and the Evro and by air via the nearby airport of Chrisoupolis. Today Drama is home to more than 40,000 people and is a important economic and administration center. The city is very lively and residents are very hospitable and are offering quality services to all guests. The cultural aura is pervasive among active cultural associations that help preserve local traditions, exhibition halls and libraries that operate in the city. Certainly would not omit to mention that the Drama is considered the entertainment capital of the region and for the direct verification of this view would suggest a night wandering to the city streets.
