The Falakro ski center was founded in 1980 by the Mountaineering Association of Drama and it is located 46 kilometers outside the city. It is one of the largest and most well-equipped ski resorts in Greece while the total area that it covers is over 600 squared kilometers.
The central facilities of the resort are located on the plateau of the Holy Spirit at an altitude of 1720 meters. The highest chalet, with a magnificent view, is situated at an altitude of 2110 meters. It has detachable aerial lifts, fixed-grip chairlifts, surface lifts as well as baby lifts that can transfer the guests to the 21 existing slopes.
In the ski resort someone can find a restaurant, a guest house and a place to rent all the necessary equipment for skiing. There is a parking with 600 lots and a fully equipped infirmary.
Apart from skiing and snowboard activities which are undoubtedly the "highlights", there are many guests who visit the area during summer and other months of the year in order to try other activities like hiking, climbing and mountain biking.
