What is Galissas?

Galissas is considered the most popular tourist resort of Syros. It was the first coastal village to develop in terms of tourism since it has a highly organized and quality tourist infrastructure that includes hotels, rooms to rent of all categories, restaurants, taverns, but also many options for entertainment.

In addition to the beautiful sandy beach, in the area of Galissas, on the homonymous hill, someone can find the church of Agia Pakus (Agia Ypakoi) which offers wonderful sea views.

Still very close to the village is located the archeological site of Ancient Galissas that flourished during the Archaic era. The church of Agios Stefanos, which is built in a cave near the sea, is perhaps the most important attraction of the area, where every year, on the last Sunday of August, the festival of the church takes place inside the cave.
