Spetses Festival

A series of events taking a whole week and culminate with the spectacular reenactment of the Naval Battle of the 8th September 1822.

Armata is a series of celebrations that take place every year during the second weekend of September.

A representation of the Naval Battle of Spetses in 1822 takes place, the most important sea battle of the War of Independence of 1821. During that, in a total lack of light, a representation of the Turkish flagship is burnt and starts sinking, followed by fireworks and firecrackers.

During the festival week, there are numerous events on the island, music performances, and traditional dance evenings, as well as parades which are taking place offering an honoring and participatory notion.
