On the right side of the old port of Spetses is located the lighthouse of Spetses, one of the oldest of Greece. It was built in 1885 on the same spot as the previous one that was operating from 1837 and the height of the tower is 11,6 meters.
During the first decades of its function, a lighthouse keeper was responsible to keep the lamp lit during the night. It was automated in 1986 sending a white beam of light, that can be seen from 18 nautical miles distance, every 5 seconds.
