The folklore collection of Limenaria is located in the central town of the island and is housed in the building that formerly served as the community center. It hosts a great number of exhibits that can transfer the visitor to another era. The collection was created as an initiative of the cultural association of the area and its objective is the preservation and promotion of local tradition.
During the visit someone can see household items and clothing, such as women's clothing, embroidery, and weaving. Elements of everyday use such as stoves, utensils coffee pots, and pans are among the exhibits, while the traditional loom, the tool that was used for cloth and textile creations is also a displayed item.
Other parts of the exhibition deal with traditional tools used by different professions which were typical during the years. Some examples are the tailor, the hairdresser, the carpenter, and the shoemaker. Finally, there is a great collection of tools used in the mines of Thasos.
