Where is Rodini Park located?

Along the road to Lindos, about three kilometers from the city of Rhodes, there is a paradise on earth, named Rodini Park. It is probably the oldest park in the world located in a small valley full of rhododendrons, plane trees, running water, and green ponds full of water lilies.

The charming setting, includes also a rose garden, as well as a small zoo, where the visitor can admire the famous deer of Rhodes. Additionally, the peacocks, which move freely in the area of ​​Rodini Park, offer an impressive and exotic note.

What can someone see in Rodini Park?

In Rodini Park includes a part of the water supply system of the ancient city of Rhodes while above the Park, in Pefkakia, the visitor finds remains of the ancient necropolis (4th-3rd century BC), that extends to Faneromeni and Karakonero areas.

The ancient necropolis has tombs carved into the rocks, tumulus of the Hellenistic period with engraved Dionysian representations, as well as an impressive-sized tomb carved into the rock with a side length of 27.80 meters. This is called the Tomb of Ptolemy and according to legend, it was dedicated to Ptolemy I. Each side is adorned with 21 Doric-style half pillars. This tomb was restored in 1924 during the Italian occupation.

Inside the Park, which is taken care of by the Municipality of Rhodes, also operates a cafeteria, while the renovation works, which are in progress, aim to show its historical significance and highlight its perspective as an amusement and recreation park.
