The Basketry Museum of the Roma is a unique museum of its kind as it presents the art of Roma in weaving baskets. It is a folk museum founded in 1995 that includes exhibits related to the art of basketry of the Romani people who came to the area of Komotini around the 11th century AD.
The collection presents different styles and baskets from the area, the Balkan peninsula, as well as Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Argentina, and Syria. The tools and the materials used during the process of basket making are also presented in detail.
