The Folklore Museum of Samothraki is a relatively new museum that was founded by the Municipality and the Cultural Association of the island. It is located next to the church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary at the central village (Chora) of Samothraki. The building is a traditional one from the 19th century and in the museum, the guest can find many objects that show the cultural heritage of the island.
On the ground floor there are various objects associated with livestock, agricultural tools, traditional loom, and many others. While on the first floor, there is a representation of a traditional house. The walls are decorated with the traditional "mahramades" (silk and cotton embroideries), photographs, local clothes, and many rugs as well as bedding made by using the loom.
Among the highlights of the exhibition is probably the wooden carved shrine from the beginning of the 20th century with very rare paintings of many Saints. The collection of objects presented in the museum come from donations of people of the island.
