The Garden of the Heroes is located north of the city. It is an area of 14 acres and is the place were the guardians of Messolongi during the Greek revolution are buried.
The field hosts the bones of Markos Botsaris, a famous figure of the Greek War of Independence. The statues that have been erected over the monuments are considered artworks.
