The complex of Koufonisia includes the Ano Koufonisi (north) and Kato Koufonisi (south) The most populated island of the two is Ano Koufonisi, where Chora is located. It is a small Cycladic fishing village with white houses, picturesque streets, and a windmill on the left of the port.
The permanent population of the main village (Chora) of Ano Koufonisi does not exceed 400 inhabitants, while the small area that covers, makes all the spots not to be further than 5 or 10 minutes walking distance with each other. The Cycladic white dominates the architecture and the tourist facilities, the tavernas and the cafés attract numerous guests during the summer season.
