The mansions of Kastoria are built following the main Macedonian architectural techniques. Some of them are open to the public, such as the mansion of Nerantzis Aivazis that houses the Folklore Museum of the city. The mansion is located in Doultso, a district that includes some of the most famous buildings.

The folklore Museum of Kastoria inaugurated in 1975 and includes a very interesting exhibition that reveals the customs, the traditions and the habits of Kastoria inhabitants and those of the broader area. Items from everyday life, working tools, and objects related to rituals or festivities shed light to multiple aspects of life during the past.
