Kalamata Museum

Open-air railway museum that covers an area of 54 acres and is located in the city center - just 5 minutes from the central square.

It is an open-air museum, one of its kind. The museum was supposed to open its doors in 1986 but it was delayed due to the big earthquake of September 1986. It finally opened in 1990 at the old "Kalamata port". At the end of the train line where the coal sheds were situated.

In the museum, the visitor can see old types of train lines, manual draisines, and trolleys, but the main point of interest is the building that used to be the train station "Kalamata Port" that now is used as a cafeteria.

Apart from the exhibits, there are also basketball and volleyball courts in the area of the museum where many people use to play their favorite sport.
