The most central spot of the city of Kalamata. A meeting place that is surrounded by numerous shops and cafeterias that attract a great number of tourists as well as locals who enjoy their coffee with family and friends.
Probably the most uncommon characteristic of the square has to do with its name. During the last 100 years depending on the political situation, the square has changed its name 12 times! Finally, since 1992 it keeps its current name that is the Square of King George the Second. Unofficially though the city inhabitants call it just as "Central Square".
