The archaeological museum of Thassos operates since 2004 and is housed in a 1934 building. The first section is dedicated to the archeological excavations carried out in the island from 1911 to 1981. In the next section the visitor can see findings from the human presence on the island from prehistoric times to the present day. Particular attention is given to objects from the Iron Age, in paintings and anthropomorphic columns which is indeed one of the oldest monumental sculptures of prehistoric era throughout Europe.
