Pelion Settlement

This Pelian village combines mountainous landscapes and seascapes, and has easy access to wonderful beaches in the Aegean Sea.

Tsangkarada is located in the east part of the Pelion peninsula. It has a population of approximately 550 residents, and it attracts a great number of visitors. The origin of the name of the village might be related either with Slavic words that mean "nice view", or with a word of the Roma dialect that refers to their temporary dwellings, or with an Arabic word that means big rock.

Tsagarada is one of the most cosmopolitan village of Pelion and is a great holiday destination during the whole year round. The village hosts many hotels and traditional guesthouses. Its good tourism infrastructure extends to quality restaurants, tavernas, cafés, and various shops of folk and traditional art.

The picturesque alleys of Tsagarada are suitable for a nice promenade, while at the same time, they offer the opportunity to admire the traditional architecture of Pelion as well as the wonderful view.

Some of the attractions of the village are the old churches, but also the magnificent centenarian plane tree with the huge trunks that is located in the courtyards of Agia Paraskevi and the church of Agios Taxiarches. Finally, it is worth visiting the "secret school" and the church of Panagia Megalomata which is located in a rock.
