A colorful and elegant settlement that provides adequate tourist services. It is built on the location of Arkesia, its ancient predecessor.

Arkàsa, as it is called today, is located 16 km from Pigadia. It is a coastal village characterized by important historical monuments and the greenery that surrounds it. Its old name was Arcesine (Arkesia) and refers to the old town that is only preserved in an inscription containing the tribute of the Athenian allies.

If you visit Arkasa you will be able to admire ancient monuments including the remains of the ancient town of Arkesia (Arcesine) located on the hill of Paleokastro. In the same area are preserved the parts of an early Christian basilica of Agia Anastasia. This temple dates from the 5th century and is home to some exquisite art samples which are reflected in the mosaic floors. Also during the stay here, the visitor is able to visit the historic monasteries of Saint Sofia and Ypapantis.
