Karditsa - Plastiras Lake Plastiras Lake
Plastiras lake is one of the most famous destinations for alternative tourism in Greece and is located 25 kilometres west of Karditsa, at an altitude of 1100 metres. It is an artificial lake made in 1959, after the building of the dam of Tavropos river (or Megdovas). Although the lake is artificial, has gradually created its own ecosystem, with many species of fish, and a unique flora and fauna, for example foxes, wolves, badgers, wild swans, cormorants, herons and many more. It is and ideal place for relaxation and calm all year round, that offer a magnificent scenery and many places to visit, like the botanical garden of Neochori, the Dam, the watchtower of Mandra and the arch of Anthochori. All around the lake you can find hotels, restaurants and stores with gifts.
