The Short Film Festival of Drama attracts filmmakers, artists, and guests from many different countries.

The International Short Film Festival of Drama takes place every September and lasts for six days transforming the city into a meeting place for a great number of filmmakers and artists of the industry.

The festival was first held in 1978 as an initiative of the Drama Film Club and through the years it became one of the most important film festivals in Greece until it became international in 1995.

Out of the approximately 2000 short films that are submitted each year, there are 50 to 60 screenings including the best new films from Greece and around the world. The arrangement includes three official competition programs, nine film tributes, workshops, speeches, and many cultural events.

The award-winning films are chosen by juries of international film and media professionals, while the rising reputation of the festival makes it a gateway for some of the most prestigious short film awards as well as the winning films qualify for the European Film Awards.
