The Roman Agora (market) is located in Plaka, uphill from the ancient Greek Agora. It was an open space with shops surrounded by pillars and it was the main market of the city during the Roman period of Athens.
Near the Roman Market is situated the Tower of Winds which was built in the 1st century BC by the Syrian astronomer Andronicus and it was used as a meteorological station and a clock.
