Population: 48.306
Description: Veria is located in central Macedonia and is the capital of the prefecture of Imathia with 66 547 (2011) inhabitants. It is one of the oldest cities in Greece, with references to ancient historian Thucydides and was a very important city of the kingdom of Philip II of Macedonia (father of Alexander the Great). It was considered the second most important city after Pella. It was conquered by the Romans and also it was one of the cities Apostle Paul taught and spread the words of Christ. Today is a modern city with a strong agricultural production because of the vast plains and in the center operate museums, the largest library in Greece and get organized several annual festivals.
