The International Book Fair of Thessaloniki is one of the most significant book events organized in Greece. The event was firstly inaugurated in May 2004 at the facilities of the International Fair of Thessaloniki with the support of the Ministry of Culture. Today, the Book Fair of Thessaloniki is taking place at the Seaside Promenade of Thessaloniki that every year in May is transformed into a major destination for all book lovers.

It is a big cultural event that attracts hundreds of publishers, authors, translators, booksellers, as well as institutions, agencies, and organizations that are dealing with the book industry. Apart from the professionals who are coming from Greece, the International Book Fair is visited by experts from abroad who attend conferences, book presentations, and public discussions, while they initiate cooperations with authors and other publishers.

According to the official numbers, the International Book Fair of Thessaloniki is visited by 60.000 guests on an annual basis. All those have the opportunity to buy books, meet and discuss with their favorite author, and expand their horizons in literature.

Parallel to these, the period of May is probably one of the best periods within the year to visit the city of Thessaloniki. The summer weather and landscape dominates, while the warmth favors comfortable city sightseeing.
