Every year, in September, local authorities of Santorini host the representation of the explosion of the volcano, a celebration known as "Ifesteia".
The sky fills with fireworks and sparklers that are ejected from the volcano island and the anchored boats. The event takes place during the evening and gives the sense that a real explosion of the volcano is happening to everyone who is watching.
The "Ifesteia" celebrations, apart from the firework show include many cultural events, performances, and concerts of famous artists.
