Nafplio - Bourtzi Bourtzi
Bourtzi is a small island-fortress in front of the port of Nafplion. The fortress was built by the Venetians on 1473 as part of the defence of the city against pirates and conquerors. The fortress was used as such until 1865, when it was turned into the house of the Guillotine executioner. From 1930 until 1970 it was a hotel which closed in 1970 and now is a famous attraction and an important landmark of the city and it is sometimes used during the music festival.
