Favieros Castle

Methana Attraction

Fortress of the 19th century built on top an 80-meters-high hill at the narrow strip of land that connects Methana with the Peloponnese.

The Castle of Favieros is built on a strategic location on the hill of the strip of Methana (the narrow land that connects the peninsula of Methana with Peloponnese).

It was constructed at the time of the Greek Revolution against the Turks, in 1826, from the French general Faviero. The castle was built on the ruins of a fortification of the 5th century BC built by the Athenians in the Peloponnesian War.
