Description: Kos is the third largest island in the Dodecanese after Rhodes and Karpathos. Already in prehistoric times was a great naval station, and connecting the Black Sea to North Africa, following the coastline of Asia Minor and the Aegean islands. Kos over the years has become a very interesting tourist destination and there is a high development of resorts and hotels to host the thousands of visitors. Apart from the beautiful beaches and its excellent infrastructure, the island has a huge cultural heritage from Antiquity to the Byzantine era, and the era of the Knights until today. According to the Roman Galen, Kos has been called "the island with the most temperate climate in the world". Father of medicine, Hippocrates was born in Kos. Access to the island is by ferry from Piraeus and the journey takes about 15 hours. Also, the island has an international airport and the flight lasts 55 minutes.
