Karpenisi - Korischades Korischades
It's a small village with traditional architecture, only 5 kilometres southwest of Karpenisi. Korischades is in a perfect location surrounded by fir trees. There are many speculations about the origin of the name, some believe it comes from an ancient Greek word which means ironbound bat, others from an another which means helmet or from a third one which means "to supply". An important site in the village is the Museum of "National Resistance" (the term Greeks use about their fighrt against Germany in World War II), the spot where the first council of free Greece took place in 14 May 1944. It is in the building of the old preliminary school, built in 1901. you will be impressed by the old mansions and the church of St Athanasios, built in 1865. The village has great tourist infrastructure for all who want to stay there.
